Hacktoberfest 2019

  6th October 2019

The event began with speakers from Dev Cluster - Nikhil, Tanmay and Vardhana talking about Wikimedia and Creative Commons. Nikhil came up with a fun group activity to facilitate team communication. They later explained how one can contribute to wikipedia. Next, Saheel Wagh from FCGEC explained briefly about git and it's importance. He and Vipul, then helped the audience set up and configure git on their laptops. He continued leading the audience to create a Pull Request to a repository.

Debutsav Goa

14th September 2019

Debustav was the premier event of the club in 2019, comprising of 2 tracks: Debian and FOSS. Debian track focused more on the maintenance of Debian OS; Talks ranged from installing Debian on multiple systems, to maintaining the packages that will be installed by the users. FOSS track consisted of talks with Open Source software and the FREE ideology as the subject.

Linux Installfest 2019

2nd August 2019

The event began with instructions on how to make a LiveUSB using rufus, then the attendants were shown how to shrink their windows partition size to make space for a linux partition. Following this the attendants were shown how to boot into the LiveUSB and install linux on their systems.

Inauguration

11th April 2019

The GEC FOSS club organised it's inaugral event on 11th April, 2019. The inauguration featured talks by two veterans of the Goa FSUG - Mr. Minto Joseph and Mr. Frederick Noronha. The event began on schedule, at 2pm in the CC Lab (Computer department).
