MESSAGE FROM SHRI VIVEK KAMAT, DIRECTOR
DIRECTORATE OF TECHNICAL EDUCATION- GOA

GEC which was established in the year 1967 has grown manifold over last 4 decades. The College today can boast of its illustrious alumni, well settled world over, in their respective fields of chosen career.

While we cherish our nostalgic memories of the college life (GEC-Past: 1967 to 2000), we have been observing very closely the quantum leap it has taken in the recent years (GEC-Present: 2001 to 2012).

With the ever growing challenges posed by the Technological advancement and resultant Socio-Economical developments, it is imperative that we all join hands and put our minds together in arriving at the strategic action points for the ensuing decade (GEC-Future :2013 to 2022). This is with the sole purpose of ensuring proactive role for GEC in the Technical Education and thereby establishing its relevance in the economic development of the Nation, as a whole.

During last 3 years, the focus has been on development of infrastructure, be it Departmental Annexe buildings, be it modernization of laboratories, establishing centre of excellence, hostels, transport facilities, etc. Our College library can boast to be a valuable collection of resources not only in terms of Text, Reference books & Handbooks, but state of the art collection of online journals in various areas of engineering & technology. It is in true sense a well stacked resource centre for Research in engineering field.

While we create the much essential accessories, we cannot neglect the significance of Necessaries like adequate provision of water for all its uses, uninterrupted power supply, canteen & eateries and above all the much desired seamless Internet Connectivity. It had always been my endeavor to take not short-term but Long-Term measures to augment these facilities, so that we cater to not only the present generation of students but the gen-next to come.

The most crucial resource, Human resource is a point of concern for the College. With all out support from the Government, it is envisaged that our faculty position would improve sufficiently and our faculty strength in various key engineering areas would be regained over next 2 years.

My third year in Goa Engineering College was full of activities, developments and accomplishes and it is with great sense of satisfaction, I bid adieus to my Alma-mate
